The research group New Therapies on Genes and Transplantation at the IDIBELLfirst studied the response of human NK cells (Natural Killer) against porcine chondrocytes. The results of the research, published in The Journal of Immunology, indicate that these cells, characteristic of the innate immune system play an important role in the rejection of xenotransplantation of porcine chondrocytes.

Manel Esteller has participated in the program Mestres TV3. In this chapter, the IDIBELL researcher has returned to school where he studied, EscolaFundació  Llor of Sant Boi de Llobregat where he is reunited with his chemistry professor, Jordi Carvajal.
